I am a list maker, but lists don’t automatically merge with my calendar. Sometimes I miss my old paper day planner, the five ring one with the 2 inch spine. It was a lot to lug around and it didn’t back up to anything, but it was a system that worked for me, I could flip the pages to stay on track. ( I also loved my Rolodex)
As an empty nester, I have less to keep track of. No school calendars or sports schedules and umpteen maintenance appointments, but things keep slipping through the cracks.
Yes, I use the reminder app and receive notifications. I have an electronic calendar displayed in the kitchen and Alexa alerts me, which I love- but my to do list is still too easy to avoid
This week, I learned that I can ask Alexa to send me text reminders- game changer- in fact it was her suggestion. “By the way…..”. I had long ago, stopped trying to figure out ways to send text reminders- now I can, with typing or picking up a pen- I can just ask for a reminder and I get one ☝️
For me, text reminders may be technology at its best.
I bought this club bag in November 2016 from The Bamboo Trading Company’s Etsy store – you know why- I pulled it out again today…..
It’s the perfect representation of what is going on inside my head as I try to absorb SCOTUS decisions. Universal Anxiety as a work of art.
Thank you Edvard Munch
It is everywhere. On blankets and pillows at Red Bubble. T shirts, Ties and Totes on Zazzle. On fabric from Spoonflower.
I have seen socks, face coverings, coffee mugs, paper cups, paper napkins and more. We need them all 🙂

To the dismay of some of my family members I love novelty lights of all kinds. They are fun, they are safe, but, yes, a lot of plastic is involved.
Here are some ideas for lighting up your 4th
Luminaid
Designed by two women to provide assistance to earthquake victims in Haiti, it is now a post storm, camping staple everywhere. It is rechargeable- solar or USB- , it floats, there is a version that has a port for cell phone charging too. I prefer the color changing version, but there are a bright white, soft white or red/white ones too. It folds flat when not in use. Shark Tank made this product famous and the company donates thousands of lanterns to relief efforts around the world. Remarkable in my book
You can read more about the founders of Luminaid here
Tiki Tunes
If you don’t like to play with fire, Tiki Tunes can simulate a tiki torch for you without the smell. Also a rechargeable blue tooth speaker. It pairs easily and goes a while between charges. Fun on the beach or deck. A staple on our picnic table.
LED bulb lamp
Another less expensive solar globe shaped lantern that is made from hard plastic
Fiber optic wands
I grew up with sparklers to celebrate the 4th. If, like me, you live in a state that doesn’t allow for the sale of fireworks, these are the next best thing. They are called optic fiber wands and yes, they are safer.
Glow sticks
Usually a Halloween staple – These come in many colors, widths and lengths. There are foam ones and thin round ones that bend into bracelets, but I like the original. Like our old sparklers, you can night write with these and not have to worry about the flame dying out – they last for 12 hours.
You can pair them with light up lanyards
